Amy is entering her 13th year teaching in the 2024-2025 school year. This is her seventh year leading the choral program at Forsyth Central. Before joining the FCHS staff, Amy taught elementary music at Haw Creek in Forsyth County and White Sulphur in Hall County. During her four years at Haw Creek the choral program tripled in size and created a foundation for students to continue to pursue music in middle and high school. At Central, Amy’s primary focus is creating a family feel in the classroom with a tight-knit community of singers who work together to create beautiful music. During her six years at Central, our literary vocal teams have regularly placed in the top three at region and won region in trio and girl’s solo in 2020.
- Amy received her bachelor’s degree in music education and master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Georgia Southern University (Go Eagles!) and her Ed.S in Curriculum and Instruction from Piedmont College. During her time at Southern, Amy performed with the University Singers and Chorale choral ensembles. With these groups she toured Europe and performed in Budapest, Vienna, and Prague. She had the pleasure of making the GMEA All State Choir 4 years which she says is the moment she realized the true power of choral music and credits as the reason she decided to pursue music education.
